Turning Corners supports people across Hull and East Yorkshire who are rebuilding their lives after mental health setbacks, brain injuries, or serious bouts of depression. Our workshop offers more than recovery - it provides practical training, social connection and the confidence to move forward.
Our sessions give people the chance to learn hands-on skills in a calm and supportive environment. Attendees develop practical knowledge, teamwork and problem-solving abilities - real-world skills that help them take steps toward education, volunteering or employment.

Statistics from the World Health Organisation show that globally, over 264 million people suffer from depression, and more than 60 million people worldwide have experienced a traumatic brain injury.
Everyone who joins us becomes part of a welcoming community. Many arrive feeling isolated or unsure; through shared work and achievement, they rediscover confidence and self-worth. The friendships formed in the workshop help break down barriers and foster social inclusion - vital steps toward long-term wellbeing.

“Our workshop doesn’t just help people recover; it helps them move forward. We provide practical woodworking and recycling training that builds confidence, skills and employability - while fostering inclusion and community belonging for anyone ready to turn a corner.”
Located within the grounds of Active+ on Harpings Road in Hull, our expansive woodworking shop, saw rooms, and factory shop provide ample room for creativity. Complemented by a welcoming small allotment and a canteen, we offer a supportive space for growth and empowerment.

Beyond woodworking, we're dedicated to sustainability. By repurposing industrial pallets and old fire extinguishers, we're not just crafting; we're contributing to a greener world.

If you or someone you know could benefit from joining us, get in touch or visit our Hull workshop. Together, we’ll build skills, confidence, and brighter futures - one project at a time.
